Dress Code
CMP Orangevale Dress Code TK-6th Grade
*LABEL ALL Outer Wear, Backpacks, & Lunch Containers with Student’s Name*
All clothing should be clean and in good condition
Tops:
- Collared or Crewneck shirts, solid/without logos
- White, Navy, Burgundy (maroon), Light Blue
- CMP Logo Wear
- Not allowed: tank tops, undershirts, spaghetti straps, and bare midriffs
Bottoms:
- Plain cotton pants, skirts, shorts, capris, skorts, and jumpers: khaki or navy blue
- NO denim/jeans, leggings (as pants), nylon or stretch material permitted except on Fridays
- Fit properly: neither too tight nor too loose
- Shorts and skirts must be as long as the child’s fingertips when arms are at their sides. (Bike shorts underneath are recommended.
Shoes:
- Appropriate for physical activity. Tennis shoes are preferred for safety on the playground. Flat loafers, oxfords, and sandals with enclosed toe and heel straps are permitted with non-slip soles (no cowboy boots)
- No distracting decorations, lights, or wheels
Sweatshirts and Sweaters worn in the classroom:
- Solid colors: no logos
- CMP Orangevale Logo Wear
Outdoor Coats and Jackets:
- Any color is permitted, but must be free of inappropriate media or design
- Coats and jackets, any color/design, no characters.
Jewelry, Hair, and Adornments:
- Hairstyles are to be neat and of a natural color
- Watches without alarms, and stud earrings are permitted; no other jewelry is permitted for safety reasons and to avoid loss
- No Makeup
Backpacks and Lunch Boxes:
- Decorations on these items are to be appropriate for the Montessori peaceful environment
- No wording or pictures depicting violence or drugs
Free-Dress Fridays:
On Friday, all students may wear casual dress as indicated below, although burgundy CMP Shirts are still required on field trips.
- Casual-dress clothing must be clean, neat, and fit properly
- No ripped or distressed pants or jeans
- Shoes must be appropriate for play; no wheels or lights
- Tee & sweatshirt decorations and pictures must be appropriate for school (e.g. no pictures or wording depicting violence or drugs)
CMP - Orangevale Campus Dress Code
MIDDLE SCHOOL ONLY
Tops:
- Shirts, blouses, t-shirts in any color or pattern. Any size logos are ok. All patterns and logos must be school appropriate and non-distracting (i.e., images depicting violence, religion, drugs, alcohol, political stance, or racism are not permitted.) Sweaters, hoodies, and jackets also must follow the wording above.
- Off-the-shoulder shirts, blouses, or dresses are not permitted, as we do not want to see any underclothing. Underclothing means visible bras or tank tops. Strapless bras are also not allowed. A shirt or blouse not covering one or both shoulders qualifies as an off-the-shoulder shirt.
Bottoms:
- Pants, skirts, and shorts can be any color or pattern.
- Denim jeans are also allowed.
- Skirts and shorts must be at least mid-thigh length.
- Pants, skirts, and shorts must be worn at the waistline and should cover all undergarments and not be revealing in any way as the body moves. Pockets should not be hanging below the shorts hem line. Any rips or holes in pants/shorts or cut-off style shorts are not permitted.
Shoes/Socks:
- Tennis shoes are the preferred style of shoe.
- Sandals may be worn as long as they are flat and have a back strap (no heels, platforms, or clogs)
- No distracting media or flashing light wheels on shoes.
- For P.E. days, only tight-fitting athletic shoes are allowed. Sandals, boots, and Crocs are not permitted on P.E. days.
Jewelry, Hair, and Adornments:
- Hairstyles are to be neat and non-distracting.
- Any hair color is acceptable.
- Non-dangling, non-distracting jewelry is permitted.
- Nail polish may be worn.
- Minimal makeup that is non-distracting is permitted.
Backpacks and Lunch Boxes:
- Designs on these items are to be appropriate for the Montessori peaceful environment
- No action figures or wording depicting violence or drugs
