Voice Messages will be posted here in case you miss one:
Good Evening, Orangevale Parents,
Today during loop, a sheriff was writing tickets because of cars sitting in the Fire Lane area, as well as cars parked within the upper elementary loop next to the sidewalk.
After speaking with the sheriff about our need to have pick-up loops in our two areas, he said the other issue is having cars backed up into the street, and they had received complaints.
Please, do not come early and sit in the loop areas. When a class gets out later, and those cars are still waiting and blocking the loop from moving forward, it causes this backup. In the future, we will ask anyone sitting and waiting to either park, or come back at dismissal time. Do not expect your children to come out earlier than 3 minutes after dismissal time (2:00, 3:00, or 12:15 on early release days).
Thank you so much for your cooperation and for making sure you do not get an expensive ticket!

Message from the Principal
February 13, 2017
Dear Orangevale Campus Families,
Our preparations for the WASC/AMS accreditation team visit are nearly at an end. The self-study document has been written and emailed to the team for their review. The ongoing work to spruce up our classrooms and campus are nearly complete. There are a few things to finish up, so staff will focus on this during the Early Release Day on Wednesday, as well as on the workday this Saturday. We are in need of parent help to complete our list of projects, which you can find posted on our campus webpage. We hope you are able to join us this Saturday for as much time as you can spare.
Six years ago, each CMP campus received full accreditation from WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges). Our self-studies completed this year include information about our program and show evidence of our improvements since the last accreditation. This self-study also includes those goals we wish to focus on over the next six years. There are six goals: to create a robust science program; to improve teacher collaboration through structured professional learning communities; to improve student behavior by creating a more peaceful and positive community; as well as focusing on technology, writing, and math curriculum.
Following the WASC accreditation, we received a full seven-year accreditation from American Montessori Society (AMS), but to expedite the process, AMS is joining WASC as one team. The California Department of Education considers Orangevale, American River, and Carmichael Campuses as one school (CMP-San Juan) with three sites. Therefore, our self-study is a collaboration of the three campuses, and our visiting team, comprised of seven educators from traditional, charter, and Montessori schools, will evaluate us and combine their recommendations into one final report. The team will do observations of every classroom, look at lesson plans and student work, and check Montessori and support materials. During the visit, they will hold meetings with administrators, teachers, students, and parents. In these small focus groups, the team will ask questions pertinent to our school’s program.
In addition to our accreditation preparations and visit this month, we are once again hosting the Apex Team for our Fun Run FUNdraiser. Today began this two-week event with a Pep Rally, and then each day a member of the team visits the classrooms, ending with the Fun Run on Thursday, February 23rd. The funds raised from your children’s pledges will go into the classroom accounts, as well as supporting technology, literature and science material purchases. Last year we earned far more than we ever had from our own move-a-thon events. In addition to the focus on fitness, the Apex Team has an incredible character development program that is presented to the children throughout the event. The staff and I thank you in advance for your support!
Wishing you and yours a Happy Valentine’s Day filled with love and friendship~
